On this day, April 12, 1961, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin on the spacecraft Vostok-1 started from the Baikonur cosmodrome and the man for the first time in the world made an orbital flight of planet Earth. The flight in near-Earth space lasted 108 minutes.
